Coming Soon

The Home Based Business Authority – The place for Home Based Business

Over 20 years ago when we were CPAs and each had our own accounting businesses, we heard the alarming statistic that 80% of new business don’t survive more than 5 years.

Then along came the internet with it’s wealth of resources. And with all those, even more other resources appeared off-line to help people start and run businesses: University courses. Non profit organizations. The Small Business Administration. Consultants. Self help groups. Seminars. Each one claimed to have the answer to creating and sustaining a successful business.

And yet, according to the US Small Business Administration and the US Census, nothing has really changed. With the increase in available resources, the failure rate of new businesses has not changed dramatically.

That means hundreds of thousands of people are risking their money, time, energy, and a piece of themselves and getting zero return for it all.

It’s sad. All those expectations and dreams of success are now dust. And for some of those people they are far worse off than they were before they started their venture.

There’s got to be an solution. Or is it that being in business is just plain risky? So risky that there’s only a 20% chance of success?

We don’t think so.

We’ve spend a lot of time looking at who starts businesses, how do they do it, and what support they’ve had. And there are several facts that jump out at us:

~~ Most people who start a business have no formal business training.

~~ Being in business requires several skill sets, not just one.

~~ Often there isn’t enough planning before launching.

~~ There’s a lot of information available about what to do to start, far less detailed information about how to do it, and even less customized support.

~~ Even when people know what to do and how to do it, they don’t.

According to statistics from the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA), the majority of business failures (67%) are caused by internally-generated problems within the control of management – not by bad luck and external events like an economic recession.

Our dream is to bring together in one place all the resources that home businesses and their owners need. Resources that will:

Overcome the challenges – not when they become a crisis and options are limited, but before that, giving you the chance to be thoughtful, prepared, and proactive.

That dream is The Home Based Business Authority, amd Home BUsiness Success By Design.

At our Hompreneurial site you’ll have access to written material, teleseminars, webinars, group and individual coaching. You’ll have access to experts, and to other people who are doing what you’re doing.

Who are we? We’re Laura Hess and Philip Cohen. In our past lives, we were CPAs who ran our own accounting businesses. We are also ex-business consultants and have worked with thousands of business owners. We are business owners who have experienced up close what it means to run a successful business. And we are Master Certified Coaches who understand motivation and how to bring out the best in people. We are bringing all of our background, training, and experience together to change the failure rate of businesses – YOU home business.

In January, we are launching uur 9 week program, Home BUsiness Success By Design. This is for anyone who is ready to start their home based business. During the 9 week program you’ll work on all aspects of your business – soup to nuts – to give you a solid foundation.

Next we’ll be launching our membership site for home business owners at any stage of their development. Here you’ll be able to access the skills, knowledge, and people to enhance the success of your home business. Depending on your level of membership, you’ll have access to self study material, group interaction, and one-on-one involvement with us and other experts. We want to be able to customize what you get, based on what you need. We don’t believe one size fits all.

Exciting, yes?

Stay tuned. We look forward to being part of your team.
